Cute pictures and a possible explanation for cats in Turkish dramas--The Prophet liked cats.

Best thread ever.

I'd read that about the Prophet before and loved it.

I'll add...

All the cats in that trailer, and the ones in the photos from the article are much more tame and chill than the ones who live by my house. I feed them and I don't understand how they are ok with being under my feet when I'm trying to walk but they won't let anyone touch them.

Yeah. My strays are pretty skittish.

My husband and I caved and bought the Kedi movie. I'm hoping to watch it soon.

Husband and I started off the new year by watching Kedi. It was really good. Now he is complaining that the street cats of İstanbul treat strangers better than our own cats treat us 😂

If you need some continuing education credits to keep up your feline servant license :p watch The Lion in your Living Room on Netflix.

The cats who hang out in my yard, when the door opens - 'Run! Run away! Its the person who feeds us and tries not to die when we walk under her feet! Run!'  'Oh wait, she might have something we want, back under her feet we go'

So Amar A Muerte has Renata's cat getting upset that somebody new has moved into his house and he's peeing all over everything. Do cats really do this? I've had cats all my life and never had this reaction. Anybody here ever known of cats doing this for real?

It's not unheard of. I think it also has something to do with the sex of the cat and whether it's been spayed/neutered. I haven't personally had it happen--I mean, if something's wrong a cat might poop/pee in an inappropriate place but I've never had one (in all my vast experience of only having ever owned two cats) who just went anywhere and everywhere. I did see or, er, smell it at a friend's house when everyone cleared out for weekend trips and the cat was alone. I went back to her house with her to pick up something she'd forgotten and we were both like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SMELL?! I guess kitty was not happy about all their humans going away at once.

I've owned many cats and I have had cats pee in inappropriate places when stressed. I had a senior cat who struggled with getting in and out of the litter box and peed just outside it a few times.

Animal Planet had (has?) a show called My Cat From Hell, where a behaviorist helps families with their cat woes, and what you describe is a pretty frequent behavior problem.

I'll have to try and watch that. I've got a cat now that should probably be on that show.  🤣
