[Sticky] Welcome to the El Cohete forums
As of 5/2/18, I'm not considering any big structural changes to the forums. It's pretty much set up the way I want it, barring any new features that get released.
You do not have to register or sign in to read
/comment on the Open Forum --just provide a user name and email address. In the “Open Forum” section, you’ll find general chat, a help forum, Watch Parties, Proximas Chatter, and space to discuss books, music, and movies en español. It might be be a little slow to post until the spam filter learns its job better–right now it’s being extremely suspicious.
If you do register, you will need to confirm your registration, so please use an email address you have access to. Once you confirm, your account will go into "pending registration" mode until I have a chance to make sure it's a real registration and not a bot/spam. Check your member profile and remove any information you're not comfortable sharing.
Registration and sign in gives you access to the Members Only forum to reward you for having to keep track of yet another login and password. Off-topic conversation is still welcome on the general chat thread, but the Members Only forum will host dedicated threads about things like current events, politics, non-Spanish-Language entertainment, or anything Members would prefer not to share with the general public.
(If you do register, but don't sign in, that pretty much guarantees comments will end up in moderation because the system wants to make sure nobody's impersonating you.)
If you take on the task of writing for the blog or moderating the forums, you will gain access to the moderator/author/admin area where we talk moderation, writing, scheduling, and boring technical stuff.
I really like how it's organized.and that I can click on "recent posts" and see the latest without actually having to go to each individual thread.
The Spam protection is still being really paranoid, but the only way around that is through.
I'm still messing with the colors. None of their pre-set collections quite works for me.
The main post has been edited. I completely forgot to save the previous version.
