“A Lupita le gustaba planchar” by Laura Esquivel
At a few pages below 200 and short chapters organized by the protagonist’s affinity for different activities, this was a very exciting and enjoyable read. The protagonist Lupita is a policewoman who witnesses the murder of a politician at the beginning of the novel. What follows is a quest to solve a couple of mysteries: Who killed the politician? — and — Who is this greatly flawed policewoman Lupita? Pre-Colombian mythology with its symbols and the current followers of this “old time” religion are integrated into the story and play a part in the solutions.
I know you mentioned this one once before and I bought it. I need to find where I put it!
Funny, I was just thinking today that I wanted to make more of an effort to read in Spanish. I'm trying to pare down the number of shows I'm watching or at least choose more once a week Spanish programming ...but Jefa and Acacias and Luna... 😢
