Yes, it's definitely the same melodramatic poor girl meets rich society. I'm also glad that Cennet has an education and that we get to see her using it...and she's top of her class. Melissa is not like Pelin in that she seems pretty useless. Pelin didn't feel as useless too me.

I think you're right that Pelin probably had the necessary workplace skills, but remember how she ruined a multi-million deal just to get back at Neriman? She was willing several times to put their company at risk just to further her pursuit of Macit.

Yes, that coffee scene put me off initially, but he sure did redeem himself quickly!

I'm so glad we gave this show a chance. The trailer was so uninspired and cliched, that I almost didn't bother recording the first episode. This show has addicted me more quickly than any other in recent memory!

She definitely threw the company under the bus just to get back at Neriman, but from the beginning they painted her as a businesswoman. Didn't she own her own handbag company or something? I never really doubted her business acumen or at least, I didn't question them until she started tanking things. Melissa strikes me as only having graduated with the help of Cennet.

Agree X 1,000. The Wikipedia plot summary really didn't help much either. Yeah, I'm pretty much hooked because they brought the drama from episode one and it's cliched enough that it doesn't depress me.

I have to confess that I did not watch any Fatmagül this weekend. I really just can't get over her being married to the guy that, now that you made me rewatch the scene, pretty much made it possible for her to get raped. I reallly don't care if he didn't "actually" rape her (serious eye roll over here). He pointed her out AND held her against her will. I just can't.

It sounds like maybe Cennet needs its own thread? I'm definitely starting one for La Vecina.

I speak only for myself, but I'm sticking with Cennet for sure. I think there must be some licensing issues because YouTubeTV doesn't seem to be recording the episodes so I have to watch on the Telemundo app and those episodes expire pretty quickly so I definitely can't fall behind or I'll miss my chance.

The future of Fatmagül does not look bright at my house.

Yes, that would be great, Kat! I'm also planning to keep watching Fatmagül. I'm hoping that some of the previous Turkish novela fans will join in that discussion as time goes on, just as they did with La Sultana, El Sultán, and EDA.

I can certainly understand your feelings. Without giving away the spoilers that I unintentionally read, I think the events surrounding Fatmagül are going to be worth watching, so I'm sticking with the show. Just know that she is not going to remain a voiceless victim.

That's why I'm struggling so much with the decision! I know that it will be worth it and I do want to see Fatmagül heal and the rapists to pay for what they did.

Totally agree. I remember that we were all disappointed that the initial storyline of Pelin as a handbag entrepreneur was quickly dropped. She became a cliched scheming villainess, obsessed with getting her man, while her professional ambitions lost all importance.

Keep recording it if you can. I think it will be worth the effort! Another bright spot: on Friday's episode, Fatmagül decided she wants to go back to school (she never went past la primaria).

Oh wow. Her going back to school is enough to keep me wanting to watch. I think the last episode I saw was episode 9. I'm going to try to get as much watched as I can. Two hours will really make it hard for me to keep current.

Damn you Unimas!

I really wish I knew why I'm perfectly willing to keep up with multiple 1 hour shows, but I lose it when the episodes are two hours. 🙄

I feel the same about the 2-hour episodes. Maybe this will be short-term. We can only hope!

I still can't believe that we were all lamenting the lack of novela options a few weeks ago. 😆

Right. I wish the networks could give us some balance!

Watching episode 10 now!

Telemundo is running promos for the 2nd season of Falsa identidad (with Camila Sodi). Debuts sometime this fall. Since I couldn't stand Season 1, I certainly won't be watching Season 2!
