El Recluso on Telemundo
Weeknights at 10pm/9c
1 episode down and 12 to go. It's very visually impressive and I've rarely heard better English from people who are supposed to be fluent. And it's fun to see all the familiar actors. I'm impressed with David Chocarro's transformation. But there is a LOT of mumbling and for the most part I'm not feeling compelled to do anything about it. I don't feel like I'm missing anything important. The singing guard is kind of a trip, but at least he has a nice voice.
Wow, a cast list in the closing credits! And music credits!
Our initial impressions were identical! Very impressive set design, and it was a rare treat to hear unaccented English for once in the roles that called for it. At the moment, it's a production that I admire more than enjoy, but I'm giving myself a few episodes to decide whether to commit. In an interview, David Chocarro said that he lost over 40 pounds for this role and stopped working out at the gym for a year, just to drop muscle mass. Had I not known ahead of time that it was him, I doubt I would have recognized him.
I feel so naive; I had no idea that places like La Rotunda existed. That's a maximum security prison? It looked more like a tent city.
And obviously it's not so "maximum" security when Santito was able to get out, kidnap someone, and bring them back to it. It's just chaos. You can't keep track of people like that!
We just got caught up on the first week. That whole prison setup is chaos. I don't even know how they figured out René was missing in the first place. And now we've got a dead guy in the freezer. Why is it always a dead guy in the freezer?!
I think a loved one came to visit René and, when he didn't appear, they wanted to know where he was.
Wow, Vanessa Restrepo is in this, too! We just saw her as Denise in CQM and Paloma in FI.
Some great dark humor tonight. Am liking this the more I watch it, especially the scenes in the director's office. The reporter in Tuesday's episode, Mariana, played Falco's wife. She looks good with dark hair.
We just got up to Monday and I can't understand why Tavares thought putting Santito in charge of moving Linda was a good idea. The words "loose cannon" just don't seem adequate to describe him. I would also venture to say, if anyone can't understand what Santito is going on about just assume it's a fart joke and you'll probably be right about 4 times out of 5.
And now René's wife got Frida involved. I like Frida, but I don't know if she can handle finding out just how bad this place is. Although, the prison director has his meetings with Tavares right there in his office with the blinds open.
¿Qué pedo? LOL
Frida just embraced Dante in her office. I like her, but . . . boundaries!
They were doing so well with their casting of actors who sound like native English speakers . . . until Erik Hayser as the gringo neonazi. He looked the part, but his Mexican accent was distracting.
@kat, once you watch Monday’s show, can you please tell me if those guys raped Cuau during their attack? I thought that Dante said something like, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone,” which made me think they might have done that. 🙁
OK. I haven't gotten there yet. I'm still back at the point where Linda's out, Dante's back in, and now his son is missing.
I'm pretty sure they raped poor Cuau, because tonight, even though the word was bleeped out, they were taunting him by asking if his "culo" was sore.
