Sunday nights on Univision

I just watched the 1st episode of MQB. A few thoughts:

  • It's nice to see Bianca back. She knows her stuff.
  • Casper: Sorry, but you should be trying to speak in Spanish by now. This is your 3rd season with the show, and you should have taken immersion classes or whatever you needed to be able to communicate.
  • The new interpreter was pretty bad. Javier did a much better job in previous seasons. For instance, when Casper said that Adrián was a "triple threat," the interpreter didn't even attempt to translate it. He omitted it altogether, even though it was an important point.
  • My favorites of the night were Adrián Lastra and Kiara Liz. Both seemed born to dance!

Someone please remind me again why this was called "All Stars." No offense to the cast, but it seems like there are the least number of high-profile stars this time than in any previous season.

Right there with you. Maybe they meant everyone but the dancers were "All Stars" 😀

Oh, OK, it's Pedro from Velvet! I like him better without the facial hair.

Hell, Robert Downey Jr. managed "este viernes."Although I could have lived without the movie tie-in.

Check out Will Smith! He's really been working on his Spanish. Casper needs to step it up--we've heard him try and he's not bad.

Yep, I agree. With all of it.

Also, I think I'd watch Kimberly Dos Ramos in pretty much anything. That second dance was impressive.

Will is such a great sport! He's been speaking Spanish all week on shows like G&F. He makes a real effort every time, and you can tell he's been studying hard.

Thanks for this great list, Kat! I wish they had put the name of each dance style along with the song titles. Most of the time they probably mentioned it, but I didn't listen closely enough and was confused a couple of times about what type of dancing I was watching.

What was his Velvet character like? He sure seems charismatic!

Did you notice that two LRDS2 stars are in it? Kate del Castillo and Paola Núñez!

One thing I forgot to say about last Sunday: I hope they make better use of Toni Costa in the remaining episodes. I'd much rather see him dance than stand there with a microphone interviewing the stars after each dance number. He dances divinely; don't turn him into yet another conductor!

He's cute, sweet, a little bumbling, basically a good guy, but not the type that gets a lot of attention.
