Papá a Toda Madre
On Univision, weeknights at 9pm/8c. Keep it spoiler-free, but once it starts in your time zone you're free to discuss it. Keep that in mind when you're considering whether you want to subscribe or not.
Ends 6/11 2-hour finale at 9pm/8c.
Jarifa, I saw your comment on last week's watch party. I'm responding here because I think the comments may have already closed for that...and I need to remember this is the new gathering place.
You really must have been a fly on our wall because My husband and I have also been saying the show feels like it's in the doldrums. More and more I am preferring shows with less than 100 episodes. Did MMTF have a ho hum stage? I admit that sometimes it's me. I also get a little less interested in a show when it's about 2/3 of the way through. It's not helping right now that Al otro lado del muro and El río del destino are so interesting to me.
Thanks for explaining "Chucky" to me.
I want so much to go all in with Jorge, but sometimes he says things that are just way too jerky for me. I know it's "just a show", but I have to listen to real life people spout A LOT of bullsh*t where I live so I prefer not to have to listen to it from Jorge..especially since danngit he can be so charming sometimes. Kika needs to work her magic a little faster, but I guess he's a tough nut to crack. Jorge said something about being most worried about Vale so I guess she will be our next after school special.
Anifer was definitely being a kid and doing whatever she needed to keep her parents together and stay where she is. I think she likes her friends and going to school.
So glad it just isn’t me who gets frustrated at this point of a novela. Anyway, I do not remember the doldrums for MMTF but since I liked it so much, I might not have noticed.
A major problem for me is Renée right now. I just don’t like how “bleh” they have made her.
Monday night was just sort of a blah episode even though the sex scene with Mauricio and Renée could have been great given another context. I kept waiting for/wanting María to walk in on them.
Didn’t Renée have a lawyer to deal with the house issue? Maybe she needs a judge to rule on her house problem once and for all.
The highlight for me was Flor telling the whole group to just turn around so she could hit Nerón in the head after he told everyone she had leukemia. That was funny.
I want to know who Dani is that Valentina is messaging. Maybe she needs more advice from Kika the “sexpert”.
Definitely not just you! So far it's only been with the shorter novelas that I haven't gotten that frustrated feeling. My husband and I really enjoyed La verdad oculta when it re-aired on Tlnovelas, but at 120 episodes there were quite a few FF moments (especially toward the end.) Cuna, Amor Real, LRDS and JJ all kept my attention from beginning to end. Muro is turning out to be the same, but since it isn't over yet I'll wait before I make any pronouncements.
I do still really enjoy this show. I find a lot of moments that I like. I actually enjoyed Monday's episode more than the previous two. It feels like things are picking back up a little. Fabs is making his move on the house. I'm really starting to wonder if those robot plans that Renee found actually belong to Noel (but i might be fuzzy on details.) There were quite a few funny bits to me. I'm sure everyone is tired of the wrong name/Jorge bit, but it still makes me smile every time. The cooperativo meeting was a bright spot. Even after Maria made her accusation. Toño defending Nerón by saying that there was no way that could happen because Flor would rip Nerón's head off. HA! I thought that was funny.
I really loved how everyone rallied to support Flor. Rana! (And they snuck in another Jorge joke hee hee.)
It was sad how the love scene between Renee and Mau ended up.
I'm prepared for the Valentina internet safety PSA. That's my probably wrong prediction.
My recordings continue to cut off. How long over the 9 PM end time is it running over?
It seems that this composing space works better on the computer than on the iPad so here I am. Anyway, I still use an old VCR so I have set it for an extra minute each way of the hour. I also reset my clock on the VCR last week and that seemed to help. Uni is definitely off schedule by just enough to make it annoying.
I was shocked that Univison left the term "maricones" in without bleeping it. It has always been bleeped in the past. Maybe the censor was taking a nap. Personally, I was glad that they left it in, but I did do a double take.
So now Noél knows that Fabián is not following his instructions on dismantling Logatoys. I wonder if he will follow up on his threat to burn it all down.
Renée and Mauricio are now back to being "friends". That was quick. How much longer until they are back in bed?
It looks like Lili is going to give Jorge a run for his money taking control of her situation. I am glad she is back withPablo.
I got a kick out of Charytín telling Kika to pray to Babalú or some other saint. Brought back memories of Desi Arnaz and Babalú Ayé and santería in Little Havana. That old time African religion still permeates the popular culture of the Caribbean and we are in the 21st century. So interesting.
It was good to see Renée pushing the issue of talking to Noél in order to protect herself from Fabián.
So now Flor wants to preemptively shave her head? I feel a wave of SdA washing over me. . That is not good. If it happens, it is another case of “monkey see, monkey do” like I mentioned on launchpad.
I was very glad Renee has decided to take matters into her own hands. I'm kind of wondering if we are going to end up with a twist. So far it seems like they are wanting us to think Renee and Fab are half siblings, but Chucky asked about Don Bosco. Could Mau and Fab be half brothers? Noel had affair with Mau's mother? And Bosco would be Renee's father? It would be so much easier for me to explain when I'm at a keyboard and not on my phone.
I will always consider Cynthia Klitbo the first to shave her head for Telenovela art (even if it wasn't because of cancer.)
I don't know how I feel about leaving the word in. Especially since he isn't an entirely "bad" character. Though in real life I'm incredibly judgemental about anyone who would use the English equivalent of Maricon. I've lost a lot of respect for the Jorge character and I'm going to need to see some remorse and major apologizing.
It's an offensive term. I wouldn't want US broadcasters allowing "faggot." If I don't want someone saying it to my loved ones, then I certainly don't want them to have to hear it when they are watching TV, even if it isn't directed at them. "Well, they didn't say it to me" is BS.
Words cause harm.
I missed the first 15 min. watching some true crime thing on ID Discovery. : (
“The rag wrapped around the head” is not a good look on Mauricio.
What reaction did Jorge expect after the kids found out he took their inheritance?
Noél sure was no great prize after his wife died but he does have Renée on the line to visit him every day.
Maybe there is hope for Toño amd Verónica after him taking the blame from their boss instead of her.
I'm so annoyed with all of them!!
Ugh. Jorge. Spewing hate and stealing from his kids. Kika deserves better. He's probably the worst written character. He can be charming, but I have no respect for him. He's an A-hole in my book.
I get Renee wants to finish her maetría, but *sniff* why does that mean she and Mau have to be apart.
MAU KISSED MARIA AND I AM NOT PLEASED.
Noél is a piece of work. Obvi Renee was better off without him in her life, but poor Catalina.
I'm ready to find out the truth about the fire, Mau's mother and all the parents.
I sure agree with everything you said.
María is just more unlikeable all the time and giving Renée basically the boot in reference to Anifer this time. I wonder how long she and Mauricio will last.
Jorge was smart telling his NEARLY eighteen year old Lili that she was still not eighteen and he would not allow her to follow Jorge until he was settled.
Could Fabián murder his own father? Seems like he could be capable of doing that after drugging the old man and letting him collpse on the floor.
