Yo soy Betty, la fea on Telemundo
Weekdays at 1pm!
Anybody watch the first episode? I forgot how sleazy Gutierrez is...although, Armando and Mario aren't much better.
The giant computer monitor!
The scarf matches the skirt!
The idealized body size/shape sure was different.
Armando dissing Pati in front of Betty was so satisfying to my cold, dead heart.
Armando is SO SHOUTY! ALL THE TIME!
I'm cracking up at Karina Larsen's scarf. Loopy yarn is very in right now.
I am still blown away by the quality of the scripts on this show. The writing is a cut above anything you'd expect from a telenovela. In yesterday's (Dec. 10) episode, we had Mario saying "Alea iacta est." I had to look it up to see what it meant:
What other novela has Latin quotes? 🤣
BTW, the woman who Armando was lusting after (Claudia Elena Vásquez, playing herself) is married in real life to the singer Carlos Vives.
An interesting article about what in YSBLF is/isn't relevant today:
Las cosas más WTF que nos mostró "Betty la fea"
They're not wrong! The homophobia and transphobia makes me wince, but I'm betting it's not quite as outdated as I'd wish.
Blast from the past! Pati working out on a Gazelle!
@kat Thanks for the explanation! When I looked it up, almost all the references described it as an "inexpensive" or "cheap" type of exercise equipment. Maybe they were trying to imply that it was an economic/cut-rate gym.
The gym guy did make that comment--that their fees were (cheap, low, affordable) and still Pati was five months behind on payments.
In response Betty's dream this episode, this will officially be the one and only time I've said this..
What the duck?!
LMAO! I had totally forgotten that scene from when I watched the show before, so it came as a pleasant surprise.
Do you know who Sofía works for in the company? I think I have all the boss-employee relationships straight, except for who she reports to.
