Ugh.  Isa.

Yes, really, Isa’s plan was to use the fake audit to force Antonio to marry her. And we know it’s a stupid plan because even RIC tells her it’s a stupid plan. And when Ric thinks your revenge plans are stupid….

Business is business

Guillermo is completely convinced the audit is correct and actually has no sympathy for Eduardo, as far as that goes anyway. Antonio knows his dad borrowed some money, but nowhere near that much. He just can’t believe his father would do that, but pledges to pay it all back himself. Guillermo says there’s no need to worry about it if Antonio’s marrying Isa. Antonio: “Say what?! Um, no.” It’s Guillermo’s turn now to be confused. Antonio explains that they broke up the night of her art exposition, and even though she did come to SG after he was shot, no, they never talked about getting back together. Also, he’s engaged to Sara. “La vecina?” (drink!) Guillermo, puzzled, says he’ll call later to see how Eduardo is doing, and he’ll send Antonio a copy of the audit.

Somebody has to take responsibility

Antonio waits until he’s alone with Mariana to tell her what Guillermo said about the audit. It almost sounds like he believes the audit is correct, too, even though that’s not what Eduardo told him or Mariana. Mariana becomes more and more distressed, even though both she and Antonio agree there’s no way Eduardo stole 6 Million…what the hell would he have spent it on? Between the two of them, they can maybe rustle up 2 Million and change, and most of that would come from the sale of Antonio’s apartment. Mariana says she’s disappointed in her dad and I mentally kick Isa hard in the shins and replace her shampoo with Nair. Too harsh?

El Molcajete is back in business!

Sara, David, and Rafa get to El Molcajete for lunch, and the place is PACKED! Merce begs Sara to help, so she runs to the back while David and Rafa have a seat. In the kitchen, we find out that Merce is convinced Laura’s absence has to do with Pedro. I don’t know why Rosa and Sara try to cover up what’s going on. Merce even shares her theory with Bruno when he spontaneously shows up and HE brushes it off. Come on, people, Merce’s not stupid!

David asks Rafa why everyone’s giving him the cold shoulder and Rafa tells him, coldly (ha!), that nothing’s wrong and to quit imagining things–they’re all just worried about the situation. Yeah, that wasn’t very convincing. When the food arrives, Rafa relaxes a little and starts joking with David about missing his “boyfriend.” Quique lurks in the doorway of the restaurant until he can’t take it anymore. He walks in, ready to start shit with Rafa over lying to him about being the only gay guy at CONATROL SG. Without saying yea or nay, David tells him this is NOT the time and the place, and when Quique won’t back down, he grabs him by the arm and hauls him outside. Sara and Merce see this and Rafa does the old “It’s, um, a family member,” routine.

Outside, alone, David tries telling Quique that he’s not gay–Quique doesn’t believe him. So he tells him it doesn’t matter, he should be respecting Rafa’s wishes and not causing scenes or HE (Quique) is the one who’s going to come out the worse–Quique literally dances around, mocking him, and then punches him in the face. David’s poor face! Why does the SG hold nothing good for it?! David AND his face have had just about enough of this crap and he slugs Quique, but he doesn’t gloat when Quique goes off running and crying. Rafa finally emerges and apologizes and David says “Hey, no worries. He understands now that he has to respect you.”

Is this the little girl I carried?

Guillermo goes over to Isa’s where she makes no bones about wanting him to “help” her get Antonio back because she “has” to have him, dignity be damned…and of COURSE he can MAKE Antonio love her. Guillermo stares at her in shock. She can’t count on him to help her–that family isn’t good enough for her. Why, Eduardo even ripped him off for 6 Million pesos! He plans to give Antonio a chance to pay him off, but once that debt is paid, he and Isa will have nothing to do with “that family” again. Isa smarms that she needs to go over to the hospital and support “her man.” As she swans out, I imagine that Guillermo is wondering if maybe he should have said “no” to her a time or two when she was growing up.

Pobre de Eduardo

Antonio’s dad will need open heart surgery. Ema uses the opportunity to lay a subtle guilt trip on Antonio about how he should “never” leave them. Hold me back, because I want to jump through the screen and do something violent I don’t even have the words to express when Ema hears about the 6 Million and gets mightily offended, because Eduardo sure didn’t spend that money on her! Clearly, he has an amante (lover), yes, that’s right, a casa chica (small house, presumably where he has stashed his amante). If Antonio had just married Isabel, none of this would be happening! It’s his responsibility to get that money so his father doesn’t go to jail! Wow…she…just…I hope her shoes pinch her feet. And her Spanx cut off circulation. And her face cream gives her a rash.

Grow up, Ramon!

Jerkface hothead Ramon made a bunch of flyers with Sebas, Antonio, Rafa, and David’s heads on Can-Can dancers’ bodies. When Rafa confronts Ramon he tries to give him attitude, so David, my hero for today (em, not that I condone violence, but he did at least TRY to talk some sense in to Quique before he punched him) tells Ramon that he may not be able to fire him, but he can send a report to the DF. If he does that, it’s grounds for Ramon to have his contract terminated with no hope of severance pay. Ramon agrees to take down all the flyers.

The next day, Ramon falls even lower in my estimation. He leaves a small bouquet of roses for Rafa with a note “I imagine this is how you like your apologies right, babe?” And that’s “babe” in the feminine. Rafa is all out of patience, tracks Ramon down outside the plant, and tells him next time… “vas a saber quien soy.” (“you’ll find out who I am”; I’ll beat your face in). Ramon says to himself that that’s what he wants–for everyone to find out who Rafa is.

Events conspire, as do Isa and Ema

Isa shows up at the hospital and pretends to care. Ema, of course, is totally into that. The operation went well, and now they’re just waiting to see how Eduardo does. Ema out-fakes fake Isa and drags Mariana away to the chapel to “pray.” Isa modifies her plan and offers to help Antonio with this whole audit problem. She’s all sweetness and light trying to convince Antonio that he’s not really in love with esa– um, with Sara. She goes to join Ema in prayer and Antonio says to himself that she’s gone nuts.

That other board member whose name I can never remember tells Uribe he’s against Antonio going back to San Gaspar. Antonio calls with the news about his dad making it through surgery and Uribe and the board member agree not to say anything to him about the decision. “Maybe now, Antonio will decide on his own that he’d rather stay here.”

Now it’s Natalia’s turn to be freaked out by Isa as Isa goes home and gloats about how Antonio’s dad’s heart attack (that she brought about with her falsified audit report), and subsequent surgery have given her the perfect opening to get back together with Antonio! Wheeee! She gloats that she’s going to make it all go away in exchange for Antonio marrying her. She makes it clear she doesn’t care about anything but having her way.

Antonio looks at the audit report. He can’t figure out what his dad did with all the money.

Isa is lying in wait for Antonio at the hospital the next morning. The doctors gave her the updates, since she was there first that morning…GRRRRRR! When Ema and Mariana arrive, Ema is impressed with Isa’s initiative. They start plotting.

It’s a good thing SOME people care about Antonio

Sara and Merce realize Antonio hasn’t called all day. Sara leaves him a message saying she misses him, she loves him, and he can call her whenever he gets in–no matter how late it is.

Antonio calls Sara and tells her what happened with his dad and she comforts him. Like, you know, an actual PERSON would do. (I’m looking at you, Isa and Ema.) When she tells her family, they all also behave like actual people, who are worried about Antonio’s dad and Antonio. Sara wants to rush over to the DF and be with him.

Sebas  is still hiding out in Progreso, but he calls Titina’s house and they agree to meet in the café in the park tomorrow to come to an agreement about the (fake) baby. Titina’s so fake about pretending to give up on him that even her brother (the one with the moustache) laughs at her.

When he shows up for work, Sara tells him about Antonio’s dad and asks his permission for time off. He tells her to book 2 tickets for the DF while he goes to tell Rafa to take over the plant.

The unfortunately necessary Pedro section

Bruno tells Simon about the really great Israeli irrigation systems Cheo is selling. Not that Bruno is overly enthused. Even Juancho notices how down he is, but Simon doesn’t tell him why.

Laura tries unsuccessfully to cover her bruises with makeup and then cries because she misses Bruno. There is no fate bad enough for Pedro.

Simon and Sara talk about what a great re-opening day El Molcajete had. He asks about Bruno and Laura and she tells him everything–Laura is married to Pedro because her parents owed him money, she can’t divorce him, and she and Bruno are in love. Simon thinks Bruno needs to stay away from her while she’s still married to Pedro.

Ric writes out a check for 100K pesos, thinking that’s a big enough deposit to make David look guilty. But…dude…it’s a check. That means a paper trail.

Ric calls Pedro and breaks the news that everyone suspects him of being the mole in the DF. But, no worries, he’s going to make David a chivo expiatorio (scapegoat) and when he gets caught, Pedro’s people will make sure David says he’s guilty. Pedro does NOT like being told what to do, but Ric says there’s no other way.

Pedro has Elias following Nelson around. Laura, with her bruises looking even worse than before, comes into the dining area with the suitcase she packed for him. And no, she’s not going to ask how long he’ll be gone. And she won’t be going out, either, since she doesn’t want anyone to see her face like this. Pedro is pleased to hear it.

Nelson has seen Elias following him. He and Pepe can’t figure out what this means and whether it might have something to do with David (since they’re assuming he’s the DF mole).

Isa is no match for Big Bad Daddy!

Guillermo calls the auditor into his office and asks if anyone gave him a preliminary audit report–nope. He dismisses the guy and then remembers Eduardo telling him they weren’t going to have to make any purchases for some project because they had surplus supplies. So how did Eduardo get the money from that account when there wasn’t any in it? He asks someone to bring him some financial reports.

Kat is 5ftLatina. She is really 5' tall (and probably shrinking) and Latina. She is not actually a cactus, but she is both prickly and cute. Mr. 5ft is actually married to Kat, but is not 5' tall or Latina. He is also not a form of plant life.

I voted for Ramon. He reflects a real life attitude that is a little more prevalent than I would like.

Thank you so much! Mr Me is still without his computer which means he’s watching with me… and chatting… and asking questions. I miss a lot. 5ft to the rescue! “And when Ric thinks your revenge plans are stupid….” Yeah, that’s pretty sad. “I mentally kick Isa hard in the shins and replace her shampoo with Nair.” I’m aiming for the throat. “Come on, people, Merce’s not stupid!” I bet she has a lot of insight into human nature. I’m willing to bet that doing people’s laundry is equivalent to being the neighborhood bartender. She has regular clients. I’m sure… Read more »

Thanks for the recap.
I liked all the parts but this one stood out.
“Titina’s so fake about pretending to give up on him that even her brother (the one with the moustache) laughs at her.”

Boy the crazy was just coming off Isa in waves, wasn’t it, Everybody could see it.

Also I like the villain poll, made me smile even though the people on it make me shake my fist

Ooh and I just remembered that Atila’s dad is Lazlo, but still don’t remember his mom’s name

I feel so bad for Tonio’s dad. I really want Ema to die by the end of this, right along with Pedro. I know that’s awful and that she hasn’t killed anyone. But she is trying to kill the souls of Eduardo and Tonio, and they don’t deserve to have her in their lives for the rest of their lives– and I hope that’s a long time for Ed.

Very glad that Isa’s dad seems to have some brains and is looking into the audit.
