Launch Pad (February 13, 2016)

Here is your weekly open thread and blog update. Comments and questions are welcome and nothing is off-topic.

What happened last week

We continued to cover La Vecina with daily recaps. We also posted recaps of Ruta 35 on the weekend, and started covering ¿Quién es Quién?.

Reliable reporting on upcoming telenovelas has been difficult to find, but Univision did announce the replacement for Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse, Un Camino Hacia el Destino. You can find all our most up-to-date information about upcoming telenovelas and series on our Proximas/Upcoming page, which is also linked to the Calendario/Calendar and posted on the sidebar under “PAGES.”

We shared a song to get you going on Monday morning.

In case you missed it on the sidebar…

Joy of Classic Novelas has started the next classic novela re-watch: La Hija del Mariachi. They’re still in the single-digit episodes, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch up!

NovelaLounge has promo videos for Sueño de Amor (definitely following Antes Muerta Que Lichita on Canal de las Estrellas on February 22, and possibly also following AMQL on Univision).

Mujer con Voz Poetry is releasing a book soon.

What’s in store for this week

The Pope is in Mexico until Wednesday, which is affecting the programming schedule on nearly every channel, mostly during the day. We’ve done our best to document the pre-emptions on the Horario/Schedule but keep an eye on your local listings, DVR settings, and cries of alarm from your fellow telenovela fans.

“Premio Lo Nuestro 2016” airs on Thursday evening, pre-empting the usual evening schedule on Thursday night.

Known technical issues

We have updates scheduled to go in tonight (Saturday).  As soon as that’s done, I’ll let you know what to watch out for.

Last week’s poll results

A chart is completely unnecessary this week as we all seem to be in agreement that Lucita’s kids (La Vecina) are awful!

This week’s poll about Eugenio Siller is on the ¿Quién es Quién? sidebar (look for any ¿Quién es Quién? post, or click on the category “¿Quién es Quién?” under “EXPLORE CATEGORIES” on the main sidebar).

Kat is 5ftLatina. She is really 5' tall (and probably shrinking) and Latina. She is not actually a cactus, but she is both prickly and cute. Mr. 5ft is actually married to Kat, but is not 5' tall or Latina. He is also not a form of plant life.

Offspring had tacos just today. That taco arrangement looks mighty tasty.

Cool! I’ll check tomorrow and see if I can record it. I hope I don’t have any conflicts. I wouldn’t mind checking it out. Is that tomorrow Thursday?

Oooo. Are they going to make a 2am rerun a regular thing? I’m pretty sure there are no conflicts there.

I missed Top Chef Estrellas. If they do another season, I hope you’ll mention it here on the blog. I would love to watch that.

So I’m looking at some clips on the Internet and even though I’ve never seen a cooking show, I find myself really wanting to watch this and expand my Spanish television repertoire.

Question – my DVR schedule shows two episodes of Top Chef back to back. Are those the same episodes?

Okie dokie. I just recorded the first one. Believe it or not, I had a DVR conflict at 1 AM.
