La Vecina, Monday 2/22/16 #169

Ric holds the gun up to Pedro, but is an epic fail. An employee distracts Ric, Pedro grabs the gun, takes the bullet out and drops it in Ric’s beer. Pedro walks out with the gun. Ric looks like he’s going to barf.

Back in San Gasp the gym owner tells Padre V that the crowd is getting restless. They came for a boxing match. They better come up with a boxing match. Padre V tries to get Agustino to come out of the bathroom. No luck. Rodobaldo thinks the Padre should box. Fidel laughs at the idea. Smack talk leads to the two of them deciding to step into the ring. Rodobaldo is sent out to announce the change to the crowd. Magda looks mortified.

Ric drives home and gripes to himself about Antonio. Thanks to Antonio’s deal with Pedro, Ric is no longer needed. And since Pedro doesn’t need Ric, Ric isn’t getting paid. Ric cheers himself up with the thought of Isa. She can be his golden goose.

Speaking of Isa, Ema has decided to call and harp on her. Why didn’t Isa tell her that she and Anotonio are leading separate lives? Antonio wants to divorce her! Isa is not going to give him a divorce. Ema thinks that if they aren’t even living together it’s going to be hard to deny him a divorce. Isa thinks that when  Antonio finds out that Sara is a saqueadora, he’ll come back to Isa.

Eduardo explains to Antonio and Mariana that he did not take 6 million pesos? Where in the world did that figure come from? Someone must have tampered with the numbers. Antonio assures his father that he’s working on it. He’s got a call in to the accountants that did the audit. Ema blasts in and starts yelling at Antonio about Sara being a saqueadora. Eduardo tries to shut Ema up and defends Sara. Ema just tells him to get off his moral high horse. He’s one to talk. Eduardo reminds Ema that if he took money, it was to cover an expense incurred on a whim of hers. Ema thinks they are all blind. Eduardo believes in Sara’s innocence and hates that Antonio had to marry Isa.

Fidel is introduced.

Padre V is introduced.

They get ready to box. FF.

They box…FF.

boxing….FF.

still boxing….

Ah! Sara arrives to pick up Laura. Laura cries and tells Sara that Pedro is a saqueador. Sara knows. Laura tells her that Pedro had her locked up. She also tells Sara that Pedro told her Bruno was dead, but thank god she was able to contact him and find out he was alive. Laura tells Sara how she escaped. Sara hugs her and comforts her.

Laura is mid sentence when we return from the commercial (and the theme song that is jarringly peppy in this instance.) She overheard Pedro talking to someone at Conatrol. Laura doesn’t know who it was, but they were talking about Sara. Laura knows they are pressuring Antonio. Laura wants to go y ya! See? Sara isn’t stupid! She immediately realizes that they can’t go back to San Gasp. That’s the first place Pedro will look. Sara is going to take Laura to Casitas.

Boxing. FF.

Aw hell Pedro comes home to discover the broken door and empty bedroom. He tries to call Anselmo and Elias. It goes straight to voice mail.

Holy crap! More boxing! Fidel and Padre V knock each other out and a tie is declared.

Antonio and Mariana eat dinner and discuss all the things. Who else could have tampered with the figures but Guillermo or Isa? Anto hopes he can get in touch with the accountants and get to the bottom of things. Then Anto moves on to the troubles with Pedro and Sara. Anto explains how Pedro set up Sara. So Anto came to the DF to defend Sara to Uribe and Siches (the one with the loose lips…today the CCs say “Siches”.) The weird thing though is that Isa had already called Uribe and told him about Sara. Mariana wonders who could have told Isa that information. Antonio doesn’t know and he would give anything to have that information.

Isa sits in her hotel room and wonders why Antonio hasn’t called to yell at her about accusing Sara of being a criminal. Surely Ema has already said something to Antonio? Ric saunters in and wants some special lovin’. Isa brushes him off like he’s gross and says he’s really nothing more than a booty call.

Pedro is now in his car and he continues to call Anselmo and Elias. Pedro is sure that Laura is heading for San Gaspar…and Bruno.

Laura asks Sara why Pedro won’t look for her in Casitas. Sara explains that Pedro is going to think of places Laura would go and Casitas has nothing to do with anything concerning Laura. Laura is going to be fine. Sara knows the owner of the hotel there. They’re in this together. Laura worries about not finding evidence against Pedro. Sara tells her that Antonio is working on that.

Padre V is mumbling as he is coming out of the knockout. Something about “it wasn’t a penalty.” A doctor arrives to check him.

Elias, Anselmo and other guy discuss the ticket scalping when Pedro calls. He’s been calling all night and Anselmo hasn’t been picking up. Elias thinks he should continue to ignore the calls and get the hell out of dodge. Anselmo wonders how they hell they are going to leave if they just lost all that money. He answers Pedro’s call. When asked where he’s been, Anselmo just said he’s had a problem. Pedro yells about Laura’s escape and orders Anselmo to kill Bruno. Pedro wants Laura to see the cadaver…and as soon as she does, Anselmo is to grab her. Elias is not cool with being ordered to kill someone in cold blood (Um. What about the liquor rep who’s in the swamp?) Elias tells Anselmo to look around the gym. Elias will head back to the house to see if Laura has come back.

Padre V is conscious, but doesn’t remember anything. He has to be told it was a tie. Bruno’s phone rings. It’s Rosa. She’s wondering where Sara is. She was supposed to pick her up but never arrived. This worries Bruno. Maybe she went back home? But Rosa already checked and Chepe said Sara had left the condo. Sara isn’t picking up the phone, either. Padre V doesn’t know where she is either. Fidel calls Tenoch on the walkie-talkie. Tenoch is at the station…because Sara told him she wasn’t going anywhere until the evening. She was supposed to call him, but he’s still waiting. Padre gets Fidel to have his men look for her. The saqueadores have her in their sights. Bruno has to explain to Fidel that Pedro is threatening to implicate Sara in the gasoline robberies. Bruno doesn’t know why Anto didn’t tell Fidel.

Uribe calls Anto. He and Siches have decided to press charges against Arango with the federales. They should be heading to Arango’s house right now to pick him up. Anto panics. If Arango thinks Antonio betrayed him, he’ll have Sara arrested. Antonio has to warn Sara. He just gets her voice mail.

Fidel yells that Antonio never should have made a deal with Arango. Padre tries to defend Antonio. He was just protecting Sara. Fidel thinks Antonio went about it all wrong. If Arango thinks Anto betrayed him, Anto could end up dead. And Sara is in big trouble with that ducto in her restaurant. Tenoch’s voice crackles over the walkie-talkie. The federales are on their way to Arango’s house.

Sara and Laura arrive at Casitas. The owner asks about Anto and the “baby” (remember?) Poor Laura looks so confused. Sara plans on driving back to San Gasp, but the owner encourages her to stay. It’s dark and dangerous. She’s installed a phone since the last time Sara was there so making a call isn’t a problem.

Anto is still trying to reach Sara. If they arrest Arango, he’s going to accuse Sara ASAP. Anto calls Fidel and asks him to find Sara. Fidel has the sad job of telling Anto that no one knows where she is.

Elias gets to Pedro’s house and sees the feds. He calls Pedro and tells him. Pedro just wants to know if Bruno is dead. Elias thinks Laura ratted them out. Pedro doesn’t think she’s capable. He’s not leaving without her. All Pedro cares about is that Anselmo and Elias kill Bruno.

Anto is sure Sara is in Pedro’s hands. If anything happens to her he’ll never forgive himself. He’s never kept any of the promises he made her–the job, marrying her…and now he may end up in jail and it’s all his fault. Mariana advises him to stay calm. Sara is the only woman he’s ever loved. He can’t lose her.

Padre V and Bruno arrive back at the parish house. Padre is furious that they never told him anything. Why didn’t they talk to the authorities?? Anto calls and interrupts this rant. Padre tells Bruno to answer. Right now he’s like a chinampina (a small firecracker.) Bruno tells Anto that Sara never showed up for the boxing match. Bruno promises to call Anto if he finds out anything.

The Federales search Pedro’s house. Fidel asks why he wasn’t informed. He’s been following and investigating Pedro for a while. The Feds don’t need Fidel’s help. [Dumbasses. I hope that comes back to bite them on the butt.]

Sara calls Padre V and gets an earful. She asks to talk to Bruno and tells him that she helped Laura escape from Pedro.

Fin.

Sara thank you so much for this recap! I kept yelling at Laura and Sara to get in the car and race away instead of standing out in the open catching up since Pedro only left long enough to get a bite to eat. Good grief.
I just wanted to slap Antonio’s mother for being so hateful. Then I wanted to slap Antonio for putting up with her. Yikes….
Thank you again Sara!

Oddly, I get the feeling that in the end she’ll still be married to Eduardo, and just as horrible as ever. Which sucks for everyone else!

Thank you, Sara! Ok, while the sight of Fidel in his boxing attire was…inspiring…it just went on too long. I thought about FF>> but I felt so disloyal! This show has had so little filler.

Stupid Ric. For once, he could have done something right. But no.

Maybe it’s good Laura got away just when the Federales are showing up. Hopefully it messes with Pedro enough that he makes a mistake and helps with his own capture. I’m pissed that they’re being so rude to Fidel, and that after all his work, they just get to come in and search the place. Based on what? Just because CONATROL accused him of something? Fidel was right–it was too soon to make a move without having the proof already. And those creeps are probably going to wander back out of there and say they couldn’t find anything.

Sorry to be so late to the party, Sara. Thank you for this great recap.

I actually laughed, a lot, during the boxing/lucha libre match. It was needed to counterbalance all the dark Pedro and Emma stuff. Uff!

I’m glad you think its better late than never 🙂 thanks Sara
I thought it was kinda mean to cut back and forth from the boxing match where I was giggling like crazy, to Laura’s desperate escape. It made me feel bad about laughing, like oh no I should be serious and worried and I had forgotten Laura.
