What happened last week
We started the week off with the theme song for Eva La Trailera by Barbara Intriago on Monday morning.
We posted recaps of ¿Quién es Quién? and
And Top Chef México.
Our Book Club is currently on Chapter 3 of Como agua para chocolate.
We decided to jettison the recaps for Los Súper Pérez.
We started recaps of the new daytime Telemundo show, Secretos, and
El Hipnotizador—airing on HBO Latino.
In case you missed it on the sidebar….
NovelaLounge posted a trailer for the upcoming Yago, Pasión y Venganza
What’s in store for this week
Cásate Conmigo Mi Amor starts Sunday night on Galavision.
We’re also looking forward to the premiere of Amor de Barrio on Univision on Monday afternoon.
Our best-available schedule information is listed on the Horario, but we also try to post major events on the Calendar and premiere dates on the Proximas page, so be sure to check those out as well.
And if you’re in the US, don’t forget to file your income tax return by Friday (says the woman who feels like a procrastinator for just getting it done last night…).
Known technical issues
We have no known technical issues at the moment and no updates needed.
Last week’s poll results
Last week’s poll was to determine the movie for the next movie night…and the winner is Cantinflas. We’ll see you in the chat room on April 16. Any thoughts on what time?
This week’s poll is about how much Spanish-language TV you watch in a typical week. Don’t worry, we’re not asking for numbers! 🙂

I just added a movie release to the calendar. Compadres opens on April 22. It looks like a buddy/road trip movie with a Mexican cop and a teenage American hacker.
My husband and I saw that trailer. He thought it looked funny. I hope it comes to my area.
Saw the trailer, too. Looks like fun. I will be seeing that one. Haven’t seen Omar Chaparro since “Pulling Strings” or have heard him since “Un gallo con muchos huevos” last fall. As a matter of fact “Gallo” is a recommendation for movie night. It might be a cartoon but operates on a couple of different levels: it had enough adult content to need a PG 13 rating.
Thanks for the reminder about “Gallo”! That’s one I want to see!
I’ve noticed that about a lot of “kid” movies/cartoons lately. I wonder if I just never picked up on the “adult” jokes when I was a kid or of this is a recent thing where they’re trying to make sure the parents are also entertained. And not just the more mature humor, but the references.
I think they’ve moved Los Súper Pérez to Fridays. I updated the horario. I guess we’ll see if it sticks!
I just saw that Hotel de los secretos is in últimas semanas. I haven’t watched Univision since La Vecina ended. This is old news, isn’t it? :-p
Not to me, it isn’t. I haven’t heard anything about a replacement, at least.
I really want to see this documentary. It’s about two Jews who meet and fall in love in Cuba in the 40s. One speaks English, the other Spanish, but their common language is Yiddish.
Is it just me, or are close, supportive female friendships among young women rare in telenovelas? Sure, there are comadres running all over the place, but most of the time the younger set seem to be at each other’s throats. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
If that’s your impression, it can’t really be wrong, can it? 🙂 I know it’s something that has bothered me before. It doesn’t help that they tend to set things up where every eligible, heterosexual bachelor has a thing for the protagonista, so all the hetero women are competing for the attention of those men. It’s not exactly a situation conducive to friendship. At best, there will be the one “sidekick” who pouts instead of plotting revenge. The dudes can all get together and hang out and get inappropriately drunk and they can even both be chasing after the same… Read more »
Sara, thanks for the documentary recommendation. Sounds good.
