Launch Pad (May 28, 2016)

Here is your weekly open thread and blog update. Comments and questions are welcome and nothing is off-topic.

What happened last week

We started the week off with Un Homenaje a Lucha Reyes sung by Monica Abrego with Mariachi Champaña Nevin on Monday morning to celebrate the birthday of Lucha Reyes.

We posted recaps of ¿Quién es Quién? and Amor de Barrio.

We also posted the final recaps for Season 1 of El Hipnotizador and Top Chef México.

Sara posted an updated review of Yago.

Our Book Club is currently on Chapter 10 of Como agua para chocolate.

What’s in store for this week

Monday night, Yago returns to Univision in the 10pm/9c spot while Tres Veces Ana goes to its regular schedule of one hour per night at 9pm/8c.

Starting Friday…

That’s right, it’s time for Copa America Centenario (May 3-26) which is pre-empting a lot of programming, mostly on UniMás, but also occasionally on Univision. Here’s Univision’s official Copa America page if you’re interested in keeping up with the schedule, news, and scores.

You can find more schedule details, including our best available information on pre-emptions, on the Horario, but you can also check for major events on the Calendar and premiere dates on the Proximas page.

Known technical issues

None at this time. We did install some new security measures on the back end which should not be affecting the look or functioning of the blog…but if they do, let me know!

Last week’s poll results

Last week’s poll was “Of the shows we mentioned in our Upfront Review, which ones are you interested in watching?”

1 vote: Canción de Mujer (Univision), Club de Cuervos (Univision), En la Vida de Joan Sebastian (Univision), Guerra de Idolos (Telemundo), El Principe (UniMás), Su Verdadero Nombre Era Dolores (Univision), El Vato, Season 2 (NBC Universo)

2 votes: El Chema (Telemundo), La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo (Univision), Las Hijas de Tierra Blanca (UniMás), La Querida del Centauro 2 (Telemundo), Señora Acero 3: La Coyote (Telemundo), Tres Veces Ana (Univision)

4 votes: Cortes, Conquistador de México (Telemundo), La Doña (Telemundo), La Ronca de Oro (UniMás)

5 votes: Mujeres de Negro (Univision), Silvana sin Lana (Telemundo)

6 votes: La Fan (Telemundo)

We were curious about whether our readers shared our opinions and it seems like we mostly-kinda-sorta agree, but y’all are a lot more interested in Cortes and La Doña than we are, while we are far more enamored of some of the narco- and music-themed series (which doesn’t entirely surprise me, based on previous poll results and page views).

This week’s poll: It’s time to choose a movie for the next Movie Night on June 18. Some options are listed on the poll, but you can also do a write-in.

Kat is 5ftLatina. She is really 5' tall (and probably shrinking) and Latina. She is not actually a cactus, but she is both prickly and cute. Mr. 5ft is actually married to Kat, but is not 5' tall or Latina. He is also not a form of plant life.
