Galavisión Summer Programming Premiere Week Watch Party 5/29/17-6/2/17

I was calling it “Teen Summer,” but Galavisión is calling it “Galaverano” a new lineup of kid/teen/tween shows.

Here’s the schedule (keeping in mind that Galavisión broadcasts at the same time Eastern and Pacific):

6am/5c: Cuidado con el Ángel
12pm/11c: Cuentos de Hadas
1pm/12c: CLAP, El Lugar de Tus Sueños
2pm/1c : Rebelde
3pm/2c: Pequeños Gigantes USA
4pm/3c: Lola, Érase una Vez

And this week’s episodes of Cuentos de Hadas are:

5/29 Cenicienta
5/30 Hansel y Gretel
5/31 Capurecita Roja
6/1 El Enano Saltarín
6/2 La Bella Durmiente

Feel free to stop by and share your thoughts if you get a chance to check out these shows.

This is an open thread for discussion of the current airing of the show in the US. No summaries, no recaps, just chat. All standard blog policies still apply.

This post covers the entire week. Once the show airs in your time zone you are free to start discussing–please keep that in mind when you’re deciding whether you want to subscribe to comments.

Kat is 5ftLatina. She is really 5' tall (and probably shrinking) and Latina. She is not actually a cactus, but she is both prickly and cute. Mr. 5ft is actually married to Kat, but is not 5' tall or Latina. He is also not a form of plant life.

I’m trying to avoid any new shows because La Candidata and Totalmente Diva are coming up. I gave up Lola because it’s so long, but it’s summer.

And CLAP has a horrible rating on imdb which means I must try it!

Thank you, Kat! CLAP is one I’ve always wanted to see. May tune in, but don’t know if I’ll have the time. One good thing – it only has 95 episodes, so it won’t be on forever like the others. I’m talking about you, Rebelde!

“I’m talking about you, Rebelde!”

Lol! I thought about recording rebelde but then I was like “Ugh! It’s so long!” I went with CLAP because it was short.

The Cuentos de hadas seems to be a German production dubbed into Spanish. Pretty good quality.

Waaaa I don’t get galavision
Actually that’s probably a good thing, I’d be nostalgia watching too though I haven’t seen CLAP but the name makes me laugh

One thing I like about Cuentos de Hadas is I don’t have to keep up with it daily since it’s a different story every day. I can opt out of some epsiodes 🙂 This is important since apparently I can’t stop myself from CLAP and Totalmente Diva is coming up. Luckily, I know enough of Lola that I can FF>> a lot.

I still consider myself a novela newbie (since I’ve been watching less than ten years) and I have a question: So were the early 2000s filled with musical group telenovelas aimed at teens? It’s just something that occurred to me when I started looking up Rebelde, Lola and CLAP.

Aw! I just saw Mariana Karr’s name flash by in the CLAP credits.

Aw geez. The second episode of CLAP was entertaining too! I had to giggle at all the applicants hanging around the grounds being “artisitic” and practicing. Nothing says art school like eccentric dressers and jugglers.

I have no reason to be adding another show to the list, but I make excuses by saying that I can FF>> through so much of this.

I spotted Mariana Karr and Luis Gatica in this episode. So fun!

Valentina’s dad is a total ass. So not fun!

OH MY GOD.

I am sitting here half paying attention to Rebelde when the name Abraham Stavans flashes on the screen. So out of curiosity I start googling. And I think he’s the father of Ilan Stavans, one of my favorite writers of pretty much anything Latino. Why am I so excited by this?? No wonder Ilan edited a scholarly work about Telenovelas!

(Does everyone already know this and I’m behind the times?)

I think the Valentina/Juan Pablo meeting might be my favorite telenovela meeting ever.
