What happened three years ago?
  • Carolina wandered by Damian’s “pasta boutique” and he started hitting on her. She advised him to add some sugar to his sauce to take out the acidity. (nb: you can use anything sweet, including carrots, but make sure you don’t get the carrot peel because that’s bitter) (1)
  • Raquel met Santiago outside of school when she hit his car. He has no insurance and refuses to let her pay for repairs. Raquel tries going to his house to insist. She can tell Caro and Santiago have met, but they deny it. Raquel finds out Santiago is nearly an architect and does remodeling. She asks him to submit a bid for some work on the house. (1) Damian accepts the bid for remodeling the kitchen. (2)
  • Damian tells Caro and Santiago that his dad’s the one who founded the company, but Raquel insists he brought it back from the ashes. (1)
  • Damian requested an audit because Andres’ numbers aren’t adding up. Andres doesn’t take it well. (1) The audit was perfect, which makes Damian suspicious–especially because Andres’ ex did the numbers. (3)
  • The foundation Raquel works for is a temporary home for children. (3)
  • Damian imagined going away with Caro, just the two of them, and said when he imagines things he makes them happen. (3)
  • Raquel comes up with the idea that Caro should start a catering company. Santiago gets upset, saying she’s “devoted” to her home. (1) Damian gives Caro a copy of El Arte de Cocinar to encourage her. He wrote a dedication in it: “So you keep showing me your magic for a long time.” Raquel brings up the idea again, but when Caro mentions it to Santiago, he’s furious. The dedication in the book upsets him, but since Damian didn’t sign it she says it’s from one of her old cooking teachers. Raquel starts to notice something strange in Damian’s attitude towards Carolina. She catches Damian sneaking off to take a call from Carolina. She calls Santiago and claims she’s the one who bought the book for Carolina, which she did. Santiago’s upset that she lied about the book dedication if Raquel bought it for her. After all the fuss, Caro doesn’t want to go into business with Raquel. (3) Raquel keeps working on Carolina, proposing a 50% split on the business so she can bring in some income for the foundation. Raquel will handle logistics and capital and Carolina will be in charge of the cooking and training personnel. (4)
  • Lola’s coach doesn’t like her friends and she’s been skipping practice. (2) He tells her he wants to be more than a teacher–he wants to be her “friend.” Lola doesn’t accept. (4)
  • Carolina gets an expensive pen back from the pawn shop, but since Santiago doesn’t think he’ll ever finish his architecture degree and the pen was supposed to be for signing plans, he tells her to do whatever she wants with it. Raquel misses a meeting with Carolina, so Damian meets her instead, buys her expensive shoes, and continues his seduction in the new catering offices, asking her to wear the shoes as a “signal” between them. Caro does decide to give Damian the pen, but he’s not in the office. She leaves it with Raquel, who doesn’t see the note for Damian about writing his story. He calls to thank her. Lola finds the new shoes. (4) Caro claims they’re not genuine and she got them on payments, but Lola insists they are and Santiago gets angry. (5)
  • Azucena asks Andres to sign a check for Raquel’s foundation so Raquel can get Damian a birthday present without him knowing. (3) Andres brings the company checkbook to Damian, telling him Raquel’s up to something, but when Carolina calls to tell him she’s decided to go into business with Raquel, Damian tells him he knows what it’s about now. He confronts Raquel about it later, but she has to run off for an emergency at the foundation. (4) Andres tells Raquel he had to tell Santiago about the checks, after the audit. She insists it’s for the new business to sustain the foundation and he offers her cash. She doesn’t want to accept it, but she does. (5)
  • Mia spies on Santiago and Raquel picking paint and gets upset. When she confronts Santiago, she makes it about the noise level, but accuses him of being too close to her mother. She screams at the guys and almost trips on debris, then yells at Nacho for trying to help. Santiago tells Raquel what happened, but she already knows Mia doesn’t like to be touched. She suggests they all go on vacation together to relax. Damian agrees with Raquel the trip is a good idea, but Santiago’s upset that Raquel told Carolina he already agreed. (5)
  • Andres is starting to notice that something’s going on with Damian and Carolina. He’s worried about “those people” getting to the money and warns Damian that’s all Carolina is after. (5)
  • Raquel makes a big deal about Carolina knowing what she’s “getting into” and wanting to clear up any confusion about the two couples, but it sounds like she’s just meaning that she’s very nosy. She leaves Damian and Carolina looking at supplies for the business–she forgot she had people showing up at the foundation. (5)
  • Mia’s being harassed by kids at school. They’re accusing her of dating someone else’s boyfriend, and her brother. Mia kisses Nico in front of the girls who are harassing her. Nico and Fede would both be perfectly happy for Nico and Mia to actually be dating, but she insists it was just a joke. (2) Julieta wants Mia to do something to go after the “fresas” who are bugging her at school. She finds out Mia’s cutting and reveals that she does too. (3) Joaquin, one of the “fresas'” boyfriends is trying to seduce her, but Nico keeps getting in the way. Angry that Mia’s pushing Nico away, Fede warns her that if he has to choose between them, he picks Nico. (4) Mia kisses the fresa’s boyfriend, Joaquin, and makes out in his car with him. She agrees to taking “a” picture, but he snaps a few. (5)
  • Lola can’t afford to go on the class trip. Her friends advise her to sleep with a rich guy for money. Lola’s friend, Patricia, gets her introduced to Andres as the rich guy she’s supposed to seduce. (2) Andres attempts to rape Lola. Caro thinks Lola is upset about not going on the trip. Andres finds out from Raquel’s Facebook that Lola is Raquel’s friend’s daughter. Andres blackmails Lola for sex. (3) Patricia insists on Lola going to a party with her. She claims if Lola doesn’t go, Patricia’s in trouble. (5)
What’s happening now?
  • On the night of the accident, Santiago was already taking off his ring and Raquel was upset. (1)
  • In the car, Damian was begging Carolina for just two days, but she wanted to leave already. Damian and Carolina were both in the car during the accident, but by the time the police arrived, Damian was alone. Godoy and his team could tell there was a woman in the car and they’ve got her phone.  The police identify the woman in the car as Carolina. (1)
  • Santiago pays someone off for something. (1)
  • They find Caro’s car, with her things in it, at a minimart with a baby seat in the back. (1) Godoy finally gets the texts from Caro’s phone and it’s clear she was having an affair with Damian. (1) Godoy’s on this case as a favor to his boss, Antonio. (2) Carolina got a passport a few days before leaving. (3)
  • Andres tells Lola he thinks Carolina was trying to do something to Damian–kidnap him, kill him–and it went wrong. He insists she wanted Damian and Raquel’s money. (2)
  • Rodolfo Rueda is Miriam’s lawyer. He’s already found out that Damian was with a woman. Caro worries that it might have been his assistant, Azucena, but Miriam knows about the affair already. Miriam thinks it’s a murder attempt. Santiago causes a big scene, coming in and announcing that Carolina was with Damian. (1) Miriam suspects that Raquel and Santiago are having an affair. Rueda’s not so sure. Miriam told Damian “that woman” wasn’t right for him–she seems to be talking about Raquel. Miriam’s giving Rueda free reign. She wants Damian’s “killer” found. Rueda bribes a “perito” (court-appointed expert in something) to give him info on the case. Rueda gets his hands on the text message transcripts. Miriam doesn’t care if the press gets hold of them–she assumes Carolina’s the one who will look bad. Andres and Rueda are working together behind everyone’s backs. (2)
  • Raquel promises Santiago her support, insisting things will go back to being the way they were. Antonio found plane tickets in Damian’s car–he and Carolina were going to Miami. Raquel is convinced they were leaving, not just going on a trip. (2)
  • Lola swears to her brother that when she worked at Damian’s company, she never noticed anything strange about him, but she suspects Andres. (3)
  • Godoy’s wife, Laura, has been recovering from something for a year and really wants to go back to work. (1) Godoy has or had a lover, according to his wife. Laura’s a reporter. She’s producing at the moment, and in charge of the story on Carolina. She doesn’t like that her boss is relying on her connection to the police. Laura calls Santiago and he thinks it’s Carolina. When Fernando finds out, Laura insists she was calling to ask for an interview, but he got confused. Fernando offers Laura the text messages in exchange for not publishing until he tells her she can. (2)
Laura announces Carolina’s name on-air. She gets the exclusive that Carolina is alive and at the Ministerio Publico. She keeps up with the rest of the press as they harass Santiago on his way into the building, but she’s limping and seems to be in some pain. (3)
  • Damian’s lost a lot of blood, has no brain damage, but he’s in Intensive Care. (1) When Mia tells Damian that Carolina is still alive, his eyes open, but he doesn’t appear to have regained consciousness. (3) The doctors explain it was only a reflex, but Damian’s still in a coma. Miriam taunts Raquel about Carolina obviously being more important to him and Raquel is afraid he’s right. Mia blames Carolina for ruining “their” lives. (4)
  • Nico tells Lola he already knew about the affair. Carolina once dialed him by accident and he heard her with Damian. (4)
  • Miriam knows Andres isn’t spending time at the office. She also thinks he’s the one who knows the most about the affair and she wants him to tell her. (4)
  • A woman visits Damian in the hospital, but it’s not Carolina. It’s Cintia, Raquel’s sister. She left the guy she was with, Julián, in Buenos Aires. She swears she hasn’t been using since she left rehab. Cintia tries to line up another place to stay, but she convinces Raquel to let her stay at her house. Raquel thinks she has good reason NOT to let her. Cintia reminds her they wouldn’t be having this problem if Raquel hadn’t sold their parents’ house, but allegedly there was a reason for that as well. Andres comes looking for Raquel, but when he finds Cintia, he offers to trade sex for information he has about Raquel, not that he gives Cintia an opportunity to refuse. (3) Afterwards, he vows that she and Raquel are going to have to work and he’ll make sure they have a bad time of it. Cintia warns Raquel to be careful with Miriam and Andres. Andres was asking questions about the insurance and their money–she thinks they’ll try to take Raquel and the kids’ money. (4)
  • Antonio’s upset that Santiago showed up at the Ministerio Publico without being called first and he won’t let him see Carolina right away–he won’t even admit she’s there. One of Rueda’s people tries to convince the perito, Rafa, to let him in to talk to Carolina alone. Rafa and Antonio have a hushed conversation about an anonymous call. (3) When Santiago gets a look at “Carolina” it’s not her, but the woman begs him to say she is. Santiago tells the police it’s not his wife. Rafa (the perito) trades a look with Rueda’s employee. Antonio explains to Santiago that the woman was a prostitute who escaped captivity and saw pictures of Carolina on the news. She thought she’d be able to take advantage of the similarity. Rueda also tells Miriam it wasn’t Carolina. She insists when Carolina reappears “they” need to talk to her first to find out what she knows about Damian and the accident. Santiago explains to the kids that it wasn’t Carolina. He reminds them Antonio was their grandfather’s friend and he’s working on finding her. Fede reminds them his grandmother is offering a reward for information, but Santiago and Lola tells him she’s only trying to prove one of them is guilty because she hates their family. (4)
  • Godoy has realized that on the day of the accident, there was unexpected rain and flooding. He’s already told Antonio about it and the police are going tomorrow to look. Laura’s angry he won’t look now, but he says there’s no visibility and no team in place. She’s adamant there could be a wounded woman out there. If he won’t take her with him now she’ll call her own team. At the site, she insists on searching near the river and finds Caro’s missing shoe. (5)
  • Santiago tells Godoy he wasn’t worried about Carolina not being at home because she was going to see her brother, Vicente, to act as a go-between with Vicente and his wife, so Vicente could see his child. At Vicente’s place, he tells Godoy he hasn’t seen Caro in a year and a half at least. (1) Tía Lisa shows up. She tells Santiago that Carolina did try to mediate between her and Vicente a few times. Lisa thought they were separated. People told her they saw Carolina in town with another man and she thinks Vicente knows about it. Santiago thinks that means Vicente lied and he does know where Carolina is. The hospital gives Raquel Damian’s personal belongings–wallet, keys, pen, wedding ring. (4) Santiago wants to talk to Vicente, but Raquel doesn’t like the idea of him doing it himself instead of letting the police do it. Lisa doesn’t want Vicente to know she was with Santiago. Vicente insists Caro is dead and in hell, but he means she’s dead to him ever since she took Lisa’s side. Vicente thinks he’s the one who should be angry at Santi–what did he do to drive her away? Vicente says Caro used to be the most important person in his life until she took Lisa’s side and took their parents’ house from him. He says that’s the “real” Carolina. Inside the shack, Nico finds his guns and Lola finds Caro’s sweater. Raquel finds the evidence in Damian’s financials that he bought Carolina a house, but she knows Santiago’s already looking into it, so she’s not going. Vicente admits Carolina did come see him a few times, but he realized she wasn’t there for Lisa or for him. First she took away half their parents’ house, but he says it’s sibling stuff and none of Santi’s business why. He never saw Caro with another man, but they were talking about it in town. He doesn’t know where the house is that Damian bought, but he’s sure if Santi goes looking in town for it he’ll find it right away. (5)
  • Miriam wants Damian out of the hospital, but Raquel won’t sign the papers. Miriam whines to Mia that her mother doesn’t care about Damian. Mia visits Miriam at the business office. She starts telling her to work more so she doesn’t have to depend on her mother for money. She accuses Raquel of bringing Carolina into their lives and therefore being responsible for the affair and everything that happened after. Andres warns Miriam to be careful what she says to Mia, but Miriam says she has to find out eventually. (5)

Author: 5ftLatina

Kat is 5ftLatina. She is really 5' tall (and probably shrinking) and Latina. She is not actually a cactus, but she is both prickly and cute. Mr. 5ft is actually married to Kat, but is not 5' tall or Latina. He is also not a form of plant life.

Well, I managed to watch the first episode last night and enjoyed what I saw but this is clearly one I will have to pay attention to due to all of the flashbacks, details and quick moving plot. It is similar to “La candidata” in that way. I am looking forward to seeing the next episode when I can.

I don’t speak Spanish but am watching a couple of telenovelas to try to learn. Does anyone know where I can find descriptions of what happened so that I can follow better?

Ok what was that first meeting? who does that? Is he serious? Just what does Damian ( a married man) think he’s doing?

ITA, yuck!

All right now that that’s out of my system, other thoughts – the time jumps are really going to require more attention from me not to lose the trail of the story, but I like it better than if they had just shown the end of the story at the beginning. Maybe I’m not making sense here but I think its better to have the two storylines unfolding side by side rather than just, ‘this is how it ends up, and now here’s the story from the start’ kind of thing. Also, personalities! wow! They has them. Some of it’s… Read more »

One thing that annoys me is that every time there’s a scene with Caolina and Damián, we hear upbeat, sweet, romantic music–like we’re supposed to be rooting for this couple to get together. Sorry, but I don’t find adultery endearing!

ITA about Damián and the affair. Revolting! Nothing romantic there.

The music is beautiful but when I pay attention to the words of the one song that has words, it isn’t a happy song. It seems to be about regrets and loss. I don’t know if that makes it better or not

I do like the music though. Why do I want to watch this? I really don’t like the places the story is going, but it’s drawn me in with the mysteries. Also Santiago’s attitude/pride is infuriating and Raquel is so pushy but its more like the writers are using her to push the plot forward she’s more like a one woman plot device – need something improbable to happen? just have Raquel insist that the other characters do what she wants and it moves us forward to the next crisis.

Ok why hasn’t the skeevy cousin been arrested yet? He has a thing for the underage and he needs to go away! Really I’m disappointed it’s been three years and he’s not in jail

Also Lola pretty much has the worst friend ever so why does she trust her more than the teacher?

One thing I wanted to clarify: I thought I understood Damián to admit that it was indeed Raquel who bought Carolina the cookbook. Then he wrote the dedication and gave it to Carolina without telling her that Raquel was the one who thought of the gift. This makes him even sleazier in my opinion–that he would even usurp someone else’s gift!
